On Preferring Life: Human Considerations in a Larger World was published in Australia by SidHarta Publishers in late 2010, and launched in Perth, the Western Australian capital, where the author was born. The book went on sale in Australia and internationally in early 2011.

It is the nearest the author comes to talking about himself, because this 140-page book is a collection of notes and verses he had penned over some four decades of wandering around the world. He prefaces the verse with prose, outlining the context and thinking which inspired the verse.

Significantly, this is a book for scholars of strategy and philosophy, offering, for example, one of the few places where the arts of psychological strategy are memorialized in verse, or the meaning of shipbuilding to a Scottish community.
