Art of Victory Author a Delegate at
Australian Prime Ministers Big "Australia
2020 Summit
Art of
Victory author Gregory Copley, an
Australian and a recipient of the Order of
Australia, was one of a thousand of
Australias best and brightest
participating in the Australia 2020
Summit called by Prime Minister Kevin
Rudd in Canberra on April 19 and 20, 2008.
The Summit was
held in Parliament House, Canberra, and
opened by the head of state of Australia,
the Governor-General, Maj.-Gen. Michael
Jeffery. Copley participated in the Summit
stream on national security and in the
plenary sessions, submitting an extensive
paper on Australian national security
priorities for the coming decades.
The Summit was
announced shortly after the publication of
the major study,
Australia 2050,
the principal author of which was Gregory
Copley. The Australia 2050 study
dealt in detail with all of the themes which
the Prime Minister outlined as the pillars
of the Summit.
Copley, on
leaving the Summit, flew directly to France
for the 90th anniversary celebrations in
Villers-Bretenneux, northern France, of the
Australian Armys big ANZAC Day offensive
which essentially broke the German lines on
the Somme in 1918.
